G Blakey Limited acknowledges and recognises the Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy Research Group, University of Alabama, USA for their training, documents and protocols.
We have two therapists from G Blakey Limited who are fully CIMT (Constraint Induced Movement Therapy) trained by David Morris, Physiotherapist from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA. CIMT, also known as CI Therapy was developed by Edward Taub, Ph.D.
It is a proven therapy treatment for stroke hand rehabilitation, with numerous RCT's (Randomised Controlled Trials) published showing the benefits. You must have a certain amount of movement in your hand to qualify for the treatment, hence our initial telephone call and then a two hour physical screening appointment is necessary.
You will have three and a half hours a day input from our therapy team in the morning, then homework for the rest of the day and evening. The treatment lasts for ten consecutive working days, Monday to Friday for two weeks.
